| Our 1982-1985 900 Red Series APC system will fit all turbocharged models for a dramatic increase of boost pressure and engine performance.
The SAAB APC system is a fantastic turbo control mechanism. Not only will it adjust your boost relative to engine condition but it also listens for knock to prevent serious mechanical failures. Although it seems that the manufacturer did some homework in designing this system, it's fault lies in the fact that it was designed for the average consumer, and not the enthusiast. Upgrading the APC system is always the first step taken in the search for higher levels of engine output with the turbocharged SAAB engines.
The SWEDISH DYNAMICS Red series APC upgrade will give you a seat of the pants boost increase without negating any of the knock safety parameters. We completely reprogram and employ over 20 component changes/updates to the APC pcb which will allow for turbocharger boost targets to come on quicker, go out further, and stay with you longer! Knock sensitivity is reformatted to be more capable of sensing detonation only…and not engine noise. Depending on fuel delivery and additional modifications, we have been able to see an additional 20-40hp(@18-22psi) on 900/9000 cars using this system…and we guarantee that you'll feel the difference over any APC control unit. This is also an upgrade that will be taken with you when climbing the power ladder and it will work with any size upgraded turbo, engine, etc. to provide maximum boost at all levels of engine output. Price is based on exchange and we can either reprogram your OEM APC or send one of our inventory units with an applied core charge (which is credited once we receive your original APC in return)…either way this is one upgrade that you won't regret!
Be warned that there are many tweaked and so-called upgrade units (including the SAAB factory "red" box which should not be confused with our own Red Series APC) on the market that may simply push boost levels into the mid red zone of your boost gauge only to be pushed immediately back 4-5 psi (into the early red zone). Our SWEDISH DYNAMICS Red Series unit will allow for 900/9000 turbocharger pressures to climb out to the latter part of the boost gauge red zone and hold it there while retaining full knock sensitivity and safety!
Our APC system will work progresively well on its own but will perform even better with our fuel updates, exhaust systems, intake kits, Magnecor ignition wires, and HP bypass (under our turbocharger pages).
Our Red Series APC systems are sold on a exchange basis and a $75 refundable core charge is typically applied to any method of payment and credited upon receipt of original/factory APC system.
