| The High Performance Manual Boost Control (pictured top right) is regarded as one of the best units available and incorporates 2 adjustments. First. the unit has an initial hold pressure adjustment that will allow the tuner to adjust his/her desired threshold wherein the unit begins to bleed off pressure. For instance, if we designate that the 9000 MAP sensor causes the ECU to initiate it's overboost cut at 15 PSI boost pressure, the High Performance Boost Control may be set to stay inactive until it's user preset pressures are reached (14 or 14.5 PSI, for instance) which will begin to bleed pressure at a controlled rate to negate the MAP sensor from ever seeing 15PSI pressures (and eliminating overboost cut!). The controller's second adjustment dictates how much pressure is bypassed/bled after the 1st preset threshold is met.
The valve may be employed to bypass the APC system for a more substantial increase in boost pressures and are very popular with the 1994-1998 900 turbo and 1993-1997 9000 turbo (SAAB with Trionic 5 engine management) in place of complete engine management upgrades to save $.. Intstallation to these T5 models may show an increase engine BHP by 15-30 dependant on end boost pressure results. This upgrade may also be successfully used with all 1981-1993 900 turbo and 1986-1992 9000 turbo
