Fuel pumps have an interesting characteristic in the sense that they will always supply a lower volume of fuel at higher pressures/psi (despite what logic tells us). In short, the higher the designated fuel pressure, the lower the fuel volume from the pump. The factory Saab BOSCH pumps are no exception and higher fuel pressures and engine horsepower levels can constitute delivery problems at the fuel pump leading to a lean mixture or delivery differential (non-uniform delivery per fuel injector) during peak levels of engine output which may limit performance. A common mistake in combating fuel delivery issues is to run extremely high fuel rail pressures with the misconception that the limited volume (and probably tired) factory fuel pump will keep up.
Our Red Series Fuel pumps address this dilemma by delivering over two times the fuel volume at the same designated pressures (OEM rated at 25 GPH at 40 psi. Red Series pump delivering 65 GPH at 40 psi!). This is accomplished by complete re-engineering of the factory pumps at the motor and impeller. The end result is a pump with more torque and power at the same voltage and an induction gearing to match. This correlates to a more consistent power and less volume loss/differential at the fuel rail!
Our Red Series fuel pumps are complete "drop-in" (factory retro-fit!) replacements and may be used for high output engine and OEM replacements, alike. While fuel pressures will remain the same, only the potential volume characteristics will change!
